Public radio is essential for the dissemination of Swiss music beyond the charts. That’s why we are launching a counter-campaign against the “SRG-Initiative” – together with SUISA, Helvetiarockt, SONART and many other communication partners, as well as Swiss music creators such as Lo & Leduc, Yello, Nathalie Froehlich and Crème Solaire.

Why are we taking action?

The “SRG-Initiative”  aims to cut the budget for public TV and Radio by half. This would put a central platform for Swiss music creation at acute risk – and on several levels: -if the initiative were approved, 18% of the media landscape would disappear (WOZ article from January 15, 2026)

• on average, 38% — and in many programmes even more than 50% – of the music played on public service radio comes from Swiss musicians
• SRG plays a key role in promoting the music of young talents – on radio and on online platforms such as Play Suisse
• music used or broadcast by SRG is an important source of income for music creators (SUISA and Swissperform)
• SRG co-finances music and video productions by artists
• SRG broadcasts concerts, festivals and events

Under the slogan “Less public radio means less Swiss music”, we are raising awareness across all regions of the country about the severe consequences of the “SRG-Initiative”. On board with us are various communication partners from the music scene, Swiss music creators, and many other supporters.
